You must read the warnings and instructions which are contained in the safety section of this manual. Before you perform any operation or maintenance procedures ensure you understand the warnings and instructions.
1. Park the machine on level ground. Fully retract the boom and lower the boom.
2. Remove the cover from the rear of the chassis.
3. A limited inspection of the chains can be made through the rear of the boom. The boom extension chain can be inspected by fully extending the boom and looking on top of the intermediate section. If the chains are corroded, the chains must be removed from the boom for cleaning and a full inspection. If the chains require lubricant, the chains must be removed from the boom for cleaning and a full inspection. Refer to the Hydraulic System Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, “Boom Chain – Clean/Inspect/Lubricate”or consult your Caterpillar dealer
4. Set the minimum distance to 224 mm (8.8 inch) between boom section 2 and boom section 3. The maximum allowable distance is 234 mm (9.2 inch). Tighten extension chain (1) in order to move section 3 outward. Tighten retraction chain (2) in order to move section 3 inward. If the distance is significantly more than 224 mm (8.8 inch), slacken both chains and refer to Step 1.
5. After setting the distance to the required tolerance, tighten the extension chain to 20 N-m (15 lb ft).
6. Tighten the retraction chain to 18 N-m (13 lb ft).
7. Tighten the extension chain to 105 ± 5 Nm (77 ± 4 lb ft).
8. Tighten the retraction chain to 70 ± 5 Nm (52 ± 4 lb ft).
9. Extend the boom and retract the boom several times. Check the torque for the extension chain. Check the torque for the retraction chain.
10. Install the locknut for the extension chain. Torque the locknut for the extension chain to 105 ± 5 Nm (77 ± 4 lb ft).

11. Install the locknut for the retraction chain. Torque the locknut for the retraction chain to 70 ± 5 Nm (52 ± 4 lb ft).
12. Check the shackles on both chains. If necessary, adjust the shackles in order to set the shackles horizontally.

You love your John Deere software, but in order to keep it working smoothly with your Generation 4 CommandCenter, you need to be aware of updates to the overall system. Luckily, there are step-by-step instructions you can follow to keep your software up-to-date and running efficiently.
Let’s take a look at how you can utilize your John Deere software and take advantage of any upgrades along the way.
* First, it’s important to note that your local dealership can send a wireless software improvement to eliminate the need to travel to your machine. * John Deere can also send wireless software improvements to update your machine. In this case, you will receive a letter via mail detailing why you are receiving the John Deere software update. About two weeks later, a message will appear on the display of your machine, informing you of the available software update. * The first step in updating your software begins with a download. When prompted, your machine’s screen will ask you to download a “Software Update” for the latest features. The downloading process can occur while the machine is still operating out in the field. * The second step in updating your software is installing the actual download. During this time, the machine will need to be turned off. With the key switch on, it can take up to 20 minutes to install the downloaded update. * During the first step, the machine’s screen will ask you to either “Cancel” the software update or “Accept.” Regardless of what you choose, you will be redirected to the remote software update screen, where you can either “Reject download,” “Download software” or “Install software.” The final option can only be completed once the latest update has been downloaded. * If you choose “Reject download,” your John Deere dealer may need to visit you at a later date to manually install the John Deere software update. * You can also select the “X” in the top right-hand corner of the screen. This will return you to the main screen. * After the software update has been downloaded, you can return to the remote software updates menu and select “Install software.” The machine will need to be off during this process, and the installation can take up to 20 minutes. * Do not start the engine or turn the key switch off during the installation process.

Press Modify mileage Input mileage you desired, i.e 63000 km Put smart key close to the sensing area, click OK to continue
The instrument cluster will turn black. It is normal.

In the process of using Volvo Vocom II, some customers will set the connection method by themselves. Generally, the software defaults to VOCOM I. If customers choose VOCOM II by themselves, they may not be able to connect to the device.
It uses the USB connection method, the correct choice is the default VOCOM I.

Now the FRM module won’t response, and electric windows don’t work. So generally, we’ll read the EEPROM and rewrite it by Autel MaxiIM IM608.

Connect APA109, IM608, XP400Pro and FRM circuit board by diagrams.
Go to “Set” to check if we’ve got 5 voltage, and turn on read/write/earse validation. Then try to “Read” D-FLASH. Empty, that’s why it is done. Read Partition. Also empty.
EEPROM is also empty. So we just read and save P-FLASH as a backup. Usually this part is intact.
Step 2. Write partition Go to D-FLASH and select “Write partition”. (So we can get a new EEPROM to write data in.) Set EEPROM as 16, which will give you four kilobytes of memory on EEPROM. Set D-FLASH as 0.
Step 3. Write EEPROM back Then I find an EEPROM file with the same part number (3456395) on Google.
Of course this EEPROM belongs to a a different car, VIN…but it allows FRM to boot. Transfer the data file to IM608 Key Programmer. Go to “EEE” (EEPROM), and select “Write”. Load the EEPROM file we just found. Write successfully.
Go back to read D-FLASH and EEPROM. FLASH is also empty, but we have the data in EEPROM.
Step 4 . Check FRM on car Restore FRM back, and see if it boots well. Use an Autel Diagnostic Tool to check windows quickly. The wrong chassis means our FRM has communications.

We know every tool manufacturer you buy from urges you to register their tools and it seems like maybe a waste of time when you just want to start using them.
But Autel products, unlike the lawnmower or the headphones are essentially computers and like every computer, they run on software, Autel doesn’t just release software updates annually or even semi-annually, some of our tools are updated as frequently as monthly, we are not only offering new model year coverage but we’re offering revisions and bug fixes to the current software, so we can get the car repaired the first time every time, remember when you get your new Autel tablet or tool, when you take it out of the box, be sure to register it.
Part 1: How to create an Autel account?
Users that already have accounts and other Autel tools can add a new tool to their pre-existing account be advised, though some of the smaller DIY products do not require registration, but they may be eligible for software updates.

Part 2: How to register your Autel tool?
After you sign in, you’ll need to register your Autel tool.
Serial Number: you can locate the serial number and “Register password” in your device when you power it up. Some tools you have to click on “Settings” and select the “About” app. On some of Autel smaller DIY products, the information could be found under my device.
Register password: is a six digit code, this code would only be used to register your product, it is not the password you created to login to your account.
After you’ve entered the serial number and register password, enter the code shown on the screen, then click “Submit”.
Good to know:
Now your Autel Account and tool have been successfully registered.
1. Now if you’re already an Autel user and you already have an account prior when you sign in, click on “Product registration” on the left side of the page and fill in the information required. Once again, please note the register password is a six digit code found inside your device’s “About” or a tool information screen.

Check currents of fuse connection with errors shown as the topology.
Step 2 After gateway module replacing, Enter “System List” menu, We can see errors on option 19 increase to 6.
Errors of “Telephone transceiver” and “External audio device connection connector” on option 56 are increased.
Again we enter coding menu.
Here we had 6 columns before, but now we have 9. So overtake the unmatched configuration.
Step 3 Check currents of fuse connection that has problems before.
Then scan all the system again.
As we see, everything is green, and all the coding is correct.

Vehicles are becoming more complex by the day and while they still require mechanical work, many of the vehicle functions are controlled by complex on-board computers. If you are a DIY mechanic, you have probably understood the value of a good scan tool, but Ford’s IDS tool is the total package that will give you complete computer access in order to monitor and regularly check on the health of your vehicle.
This article applies to Ford Truck Models (1996-Present).
The Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) is a PC-based scan tool that was introduced with the advent of On-Board Diagnostics II (OBD-II) for all 1996 and newer Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles. Using Ford’s IDS software and their Vehicle Communication Module II (VCM II) will provide the same level of testing, diagnostic, and reprogramming capabilities as used by factory trained technicians on all OBD-II Ford Vehicles. With modern cars becoming more complex and using a variety of computers to control various vehicle functions, the IDS is a must have for the DIY mechanic. This article will explain the necessary hardware and software required, as well as the setup procedure for the Ford IDS scan tool.

Step 1 – PC Requirements
In order to use Ford’s diagnostic software, you will need a laptop capable of running IDS. Ford recommends the use of either a Panasonic Toughbook CF53 or a Dell Latitude E5440 for their touchscreen interfaces, but any laptop will be sufficient as long as it meets the IDS minimum system requirements. In fact, if you are using a newer laptop purchased within the last few years, chances are it will be sufficient to run the software. See Figure 1 for Ford’s minimum and recommended PC system requirements.
Step 2 – Obtain VCM Hardware
The Vehicle Communication Module II is the means by which the laptop will communicate with the truck. The VCM connects to the vehicle through the 16-pin OBD-II port in the driver footwell and can either be connected to the laptop through a USB cable or through 802.11 wireless technology. Wireless functionality has proven useful since one does not have to be sitting directly in the vehicle for diagnosis, but can instead be connected remotely anywhere in the shop. In fact, the unit was designed to be used wirelessly and only needs to be connected via USB for firmware updates or vehicle datalogging. Note:
The VCM II is the most expensive piece of the IDS diagnostic equipment. Various knockoffs are available for pennies on the dollar, but may require users to seek out older versions of the IDS software which may be difficult to obtain a license for and may not be compatible with every vehicle.
Step 3 – Download IDS Software
After you have a capable laptop and VCM II in your possession, you can proceed with downloading and installing the IDS software. Visit the Ford IDS website and click on ‘Download Software’ as shown in Figure 3. A second window should then open to allow you to select the latest IDS version available (Figure 4). Download and install the IDS software by following the on-screen instructions.
Note The IDS software will function without a license, but will not be able to communicate with your vehicle. You can download the software before purchasing any hardware to see the program interface and view available functions of the IDS.
Step 4 – Obtain & Activate License
The Ford IDS software is a subscription-based service that requires a license in order to communicate with your vehicle. A license essentially unlocks all features of the IDS for your use. A license can be purchased for various lengths of time with the longest subscription lasting 365 days and the shortest at only 2 days. Upon opening the IDS program, it will notify you that you do not have a valid license and give you options of where you can obtain one (Figure 5). After purchasing a license, you should be prompted to enter the 20-digit license code to activate the program for use (Figure 6). Be aware that an internet connection is required for the code to be validated after being entered.
If you are not prompted with a license activation window, you can simply go to the Motorcraft website to purchase a license and then return to the IDS Set Up menu (under System Utilities) and select ‘License Management’ to input the code (Figure 7).
Note:
The IDS License will be mated to a single computer. Multiple computers cannot use the same license unless it is removed from one computer and transferred to another.
Step 5 – Begin Using IDS
Upon a successful license activation, you are ready to begin using the IDS. Simply connect the VCM II to the vehicle by plugging the 16-pin DLC connector into the OBD-II port and the provided USB cable (or wireless D-link adapter) from the VCM II to the laptop. Next, turn the vehicle key to the run position before running the IDS program as an administrator. Here you can start a new work session by selecting the vehicle icon.
At this point, the IDS can virtually test and monitor all vehicle systems as well as indicate any trouble codes. Pro Tip:
Anytime you are reprogramming or diagnosing a vehicle using the IDS, it is strongly recommended that a backup file of the vehicle be created.
Step 6 – Keeping The IDS Updated
The IDS License must be validated with the server on a regular basis in order to keep using the service. This must occur at least once every 29 days or less by simply starting the IDS program and clicking the ‘Validate’ button that will automatically appear upon program startup. Similarly, if any updates are required, those must first be completed before continuing to use the program. If the license reaches the end of the term that was paid for, or is not validated once a month, the license will become invalid and the program will no longer be able to communicate with the vehicle.

How to bind X431 V+ and HDII?
Firstly, follow the above procedure to register as a car member ( open the envelope in X431 V+) .
Secondly, enter “User Info”.
Thirdly, take out the envelope in HDIII adapter, select “Activate VCI” and then follow the prompt to input serial number of activation code.
Finally, go to the car account to bind the truck module. After that, click on “Update” to update all cars and trucks brands.

Performs diagnostics and bi-directional without using a bypass cable:
Establish a connection with your Launch scan tool to the vehicle via auto VIN detect or the manual Chrysler configuration.

User authentication will be valid as long as the vehicle is keyed on an engine off and your VC I is connected to the vehicle with a stable Internet connection.

VIN Registration is an operation to registering VIN in ECM (Engine Control Module). It must be performed each time ECM is replaced. NOTE: Accurate VIN which is registered in ECM may be required for Inspection & Maintenance (I/M). For example, Nissan X-Trail T32 2017 ECM VIN registration can be done by any Launch X431 including Launch X431 V, X431 V+, PAD V etc.
Procedure: I.E X431 PAD V Nissan X-Trail T32 2017 ECM VIN registration
Hook X431 Pad V up to Nissan X-Trail T32 2017, select “Diagnosis” and then Nissan, then “Full system diagnosis”.
Select “The vehicle with 16PIN”.
System selection.
Engine.
ECM (Engine Control Module).
Communicating… till 100%
Special function.
Select “Vin registration”.
Turn ignition on and engine stopped.
Select “VIN Read” and click on “Read”.
Input VIN, refer to S /M for location of identification plate.
Command succeed. Turn ignition off for 10 seconds and then turn on to confirm no DTC.
Double check:
Back to ECM (Engine Control Module) -> Vin registration.
You can see on X431 PAD V VIN Value, that means the VIN Number is already registered successfully.
Job is done.
